The recently renovated Town Hall Hotel is one of the top places to check out in Balmain this Winter.
Throughout the revamp the historic Balmain building has retained its authentic pub feel on the ground level whilst ruly stepping things up on the top floor.
Freshly decorated with bright colours, the tree house dining room on the second floor is fitted with plants and hanging ferns, cane furniture and a cosy lounge area by a fireplace.
Complimenting the vibrant interior design, Australian Hotels Association award winning chef Brad Sloane has created a stellar menu.

To start we chose a selection of share plates including some delicious arancini filled with field mushrooms and pine nuts. The chili and fennel salt squid was also a hit at our table, along with the guacamole, jalapeno dip served with tortilla chips.
There’s a wonderful selection of mains ranging from super food salads to Italian seafood stew, truffled gnocchi, oh and we can’t forget Brad’s famous pork pie.

Much like the décor of the venue, the menu also blends modern high-end restaurant style with the pub food we all know and love like a chicken schnitzel, beer battered fish or even a burger.
The herb crusted lamb cutlets served with smoked mash, lemon and gravy was the star dish for me.

We ordered a couple of bottles of Radio Broker Tempranillo 2006 from the menu however were served bottles of 2013 instead – we were told new menus were being printed. The 2013 bottle was still a lovely drop!
Overall Town Hall Hotel is a great lunch venue in Balmain with excellent food and very friendly customer service.
